Lynn R. Marotz, R.N., professor emerita, was a member of the Department of Applied Behavioral Science faculty, University of Kansas, for over thirty-five years and also served as the Associate Director of the Child Development Center. She taught large undergraduate and graduate courses in parenting, children's health, safety and nutrition, history and philosophy of early childhood education, and leadership and administration. She worked closely with students in the Early Childhood teacher education program and the families of children enrolled in the Child Development Center. Professor Marotz has authored numerous invited book chapters in national and international publications about children's health and nutrition, legal issues, and environmental safety. She is also the author of HEALTH, SAFETY, AND NUTRITION FOR THE YOUNG CHILD, DEVELOPMENTAL PROFILES: BIRTH THROUGH ADOLESCENCE, MOTIVATIONAL LEADERSHIP, and BY THE AGES: BEHAVIOR AND DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN PRE-BIRTH THROUGH EIGHT. i had to rent this book for my early education class. It's pretty informative and i found myself learning things i didn't know about healthy eating. so it benefited my education as well as my health

This textbook was in great condition and arrived on time. The text was a good size and included a variety of vivid diagrams and pictures throughout. It was helpful for taking notes that I could highlight passes that were important.Renting my books through Amazon I get good quality books at affordable prices.

My child likes this book and help her a lot dealing with the classroom students

Books cheap and in good condition are sometimes hard to find. This was a good buy for me.

I have not used this textbook in school yet, but I have thumbed through it and I am very excited about it. It is beautiful and the organization is great. Key terms are always in blue in the main text and the definition is at the bottom of the page like a footnote - there if you need it, out of the way if you don't. Informational extras and tables are color coded and easy to find. So far it looks very thorough but an easy read. I have had textbooks that didn't have the key terms in the index but had seemingly irrelevant topics listed, but this book has a very thorough index which is a plus! Also, it is very modern and clean looking. I doubt I will spend half of my study time being frustrated by the book like I have in the past.

This textbook was required for completing prerequisites to obtain my Early childhood degree. But it was one helluva good book. The chapters were short so it was never overwhelming to read. At the end of each chapter were lesson plans and therein lies the gold at the end of this rainbow. This book is a treasure trove of easy lessons to implement in a preschool early childhood classroom. This is not just a fabulous textbook it is an amazing classroom and center resource.

About the Author

Jennings Bryant is Professor and holder of the Ronald R. Reagan endowed Chair of Broadcasting in the College of Communication at the University of Alabama. He is the founding co-editor of the Media Psychology journal, and serves on the editorial boards of 11 scholarly journals. His primary research interests are in entertainment theory, media effects, advanced communications technologies and systems, and media education.

Mary Beth Oliver is Professor and Co-Director of the Media Effects Research laboratory in the College of Communications at Penn State University. She specializes in media and psychology, with a focus on both the psychological effects of media and viewers' attraction to or enjoyment of media content. Her research includes studies pertaining to media violence, reality-based television programs, gender differences in enjoyment of media entertainment, viewers' responses to melodramas and sad films, and the effect of media portrayals of racial groups on viewers' racial attitudes.
